Rachel Heery
Rachel works for UKOLN, at the University of Bath, as Assistant Director leading the Research and Development team. Rachel has undertaken research over recent years in the field of metadata, resource discovery and data architecture. She brings to this role wide experience in the implementation and development of information management systems in the commercial and library sectors. Rachel has been involved in a number of digital library projects and currently leads a team working on the Open Archive Forum, ARCO and the Subject Portals Project. She has a particular interest in schema registries and application profiles which have been central to the SCHEMAS project, an activity that will be taken forward within a new European project CORES.

Laurence Lannom
Larry Lannom is the Director of Information Management Technology for the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI), which he joined in 1996. In his current role for CNRI, he works with organizations in both the public and private sectors to develop experimental and pilot applications of advanced networking and information management technologies. Originally trained as a librarian, Larry has over thirty years of experience in computer science, publishing, and libraries. He has worked in both academic and commercial environments in the creation and management of information products and services, research in digital libraries and information retrieval, development of computer applications, and management studies in the library and publishing fields.

William G. LeFurgy
William LeFurgy is a Senior Archivist in the Modern Records Programs at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in College Park, Maryland. He works on records management issues within the federal government with an emphasis on electronic records. A current focus of his activity is developing guidelines to expand the electronic formats that can be transferred to NARA and made available to users.

Mary Marlino
Mary Marlino is the Director of the Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE) Program Center, hosted by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research and sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The mission of the DLESE Program Center is to support the distributed library-building process by serving as an integrator for community efforts and by providing a basis for DLESE continuity. Marlino received an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology from The University of Georgia in 1989. Prior to coming to UCAR, she was the Director of Educational Technology at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado from 1989 until 1997.

Robert Sullivan
Robert Sullivan is a descendant of the Nga Puhi and Kai Tahu tribes of Aotearoa / New Zealand.
He was a member of the first International Indigenous Librarians' Forum Organizing Committee, 1999-2000, and edited their Proceedings (Auckland: Te Ropu Whakahau, 2001). He created and maintained the first Maori web directory organized by subject, Nga Matatiki Rorohiko, 1995-2001, at The University of Auckland Library. In 2001 this directory was transferred to form the basis for the Maori section of the National Library of New Zealand's Te Puna Web Directory (http://www.auckland.ac.nz/lbr/trout/trout.htm) and is a board member of the New Zealand Electronic Poetry Centre ( http://www.nzepc.auckland.ac.nz).To return to Robert Sullivan's article, click (here).
Tamara Sumner
Tamara Sumner is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado, with a joint appointment between the Department of Computer Science and the Institute of Cognitive Science. Her research interests include human-computer interaction, design research, educational technology, and interactive scholarly publishing. Lately, she has combined these interests in two action research projects: the Journal of Interactive Media in Education (http://www-jime.open.ac.uk) and the Digital Library for Earth Systems Education (http://www.dlese.org). Prior to joining the University of Colorado, Dr. Sumner served as a Lecturer with the Knowledge Media Institute at The Open University in the UK.

Harry Wagner
Harry Wagner (BS Computer Science, University of West Florida) is a consulting software engineer for the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) Office of Research and the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI).
He is co-chair of the DCMI Registry Working Group and serves as a member of the DCMI Advisory Committee. In addition to Metadata registries his research interests include open-source, Web services, and the Semantic Web activity.

Michael Wright
Michael Wright is currently the Technical Director at the DLESE Program Center where he is responsible for developing the core infrastructure for DLESE. He has interests in electronic publishing: e-print archives, community-based publishing, peer review systems and Web technologies supporting distance learning infrastructures, and web-casting and digital libraries. In addition to DLESE, Wright continues to contribute to the development of the Journal of Interactive Media in Education (http://www-jime.open.ac.uk). Prior to joining DLESE, Wright was a research consultant with the Knowledge Media Institute (http://kmi.open.ac.uk) at The Open University in the UK, and a developer at the Unidata Program Center (http://www.unidata.ucar.edu).
